Notice About Dr. Grant’s Retirement: Dr. Grant has shared with us her plan to retire from Lambton-Kingsway and the TDSB effective December 31, 2021. Please see that attached letter informing the community of Dr. Grant’s retirement. Please also see the attached letter from Dr. Grant. We join everyone in wishing Dr. Grant a long and healthy retirement.
Elementary Switch Form: All families should have received an email from the TDSB today with communication about switching learning formats. The Elementary Switch Form for students who would like to switch the present format of learning (from or to virtual learning) is now open. The form will be open from December 3rd to January 7th, 2022. Please note this is a greater length of time then was previously communicated. If you do not want to switch learning formats for your child, no action is needed. If you are considering a switch in learning format for your child, we also ask that you contact the school at 416-394-7890 if you have any further questions. A request for a change is subject to available space. Changes will take place beginning February 22, 2022.
Holiday/Winter Cheer: The month of December is a busy and festive time at Lambton-Kingsway JMS. Even though we continue to follow safety guidelines, this year will be no different. Our Student Council is organizing some fun and safe activities for our students, including a Winter Wonderland for K-5 students, theme days and our Winter/Holiday Door Decorating Contest. Next week’s Friday Flash will provide more details. @LambtonKingsway on Twitter to see our winter creativity.
Candy-Grams: Our Grade 8 students will be having a ‘One Day Only’ sale of candy-grams in support of Grade 8 graduation. On Friday, December 10th, all students will be able to purchase candy cane candy-grams for $0.50 or 3 for a $1.00. Classes will have the opportunity to purchase they items through out the day. Candy-grams will not be available through cash online and students will need to bring change to make a purchase.
The Importance of Daily Reading: Research tells us that reading daily is one of the most important activities to help build vocabulary, increase knowledge, and develop a better understanding of the world around us. Reading to and with children for at least 20 minutes a day when they are younger and having children read and discuss what they have read each day are two activities that are both enjoyable and easy to accomplish. The Pearson Enjoy Reading: A Guide to Reading at Home has many easy to use strategies to allow reading to become a regular part of the home routine.
Travel Reminder: Lambton-Kingsway families are reminded that students who are not fully vaccinated who travel outside of Canada need to isolate for a period of 14 days upon return to Canada as per the federal travel guidelines. Attached is a copy of the Canadian Covid Travel Guidelines.
Lunchroom Supervisor Positions: Lambton-Kingsway is looking for parents or community members who would be interested in the position of lunchroom supervisor. TDSB lunchroom supervisor is a paid position. The position can either be full time or occasional, which means that we can work with the flexibility of your schedule. If you are interested in being a lunchroom supervisor at Lambton-Kingsway please call 416-394-7890 or email Lambton_Kingsway@tdsb.on.ca. We look forward to hearing from you.
