Important Message for LKS Committee Leads

Dear LKS Committee Lead(s),

As we navigate through the school year and all of the challenges that come with Covid protocols, we’re so excited that LKS Parent Council Committees are, once again, up and running.
So far, we’ve got five active committees:

  1. Grad Committee
  2. Equity & Inclusion Committee
  3. Fundraising Committee
  4. Environmental Committee
  5. Literacy Committee

As you move forward with your plans, we want to highlight some guidelines that all committees should be following, as per the TDSB rules around Parent Council Committees to ensure transparency and inclusion:
A) Doing everything possible to ensure that all committee members are able to contribute their ideas and that it is a welcoming environment for all who wish to participate.

B) Please allow for zoom calls to ensure all members can attend meetings and doing your best to ensure that meeting times are able to accommodate as many members as possible.

C) Ensuring that at least one member will attend our general PC meetings to provide an update on your progress.  If no one is able to attend the meeting, please ensure that a committee member provides an update to the PC Executive team in advance of the meeting so that we may provide an update to parents/guardians on your behalf.

D) An understanding that the majority of your committee members need to agree on how funds are being spent.

E) The above guidelines should be reviewed with members as soon as the committee commences or should be shared at the next meeting so that all members are made aware of the guidelines.

We know that for some committee members, this is a new experience and we are so grateful to all of you for volunteering your time and working to create a positive experience for LKS students.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the PC Executive Team.
Once again, thank you for all that you are doing for LKS!

Sincerely,

Joanna Sharp & Stephanie Bournakas
