Entering the School Reminder: Parents, family members and caregivers are reminded that due to Covid safety procedures, only students are to enter the school building. If you are dropping off a child or an item, please remember to remain outside the building or take direction from our office staff. Thank you for your cooperation.
Terry Fox Update: We are proud to let you know that we have surpassed our goal of raising $25,000 this year, when we include our t-shirt sales, which is absolutely amazing! Our total funds raised were $25,263.30. This brings our grand total over the past 21 years to $560,351.49.
The past two years have been quite challenging, without our Terry Fox assemblies, cookie sales (which we have been given approval to start up again…stay tuned for more information), Terry Fox Raffle, our huge community walk, and the on-going help of our amazing Terry Fox Student Helpers.
Terry is a true Canadian hero, who exemplified so many positive character traits. He did the unthinkable to help others who were suffering from cancer. We know that cancer touches us all, either directly or indirectly. Thanks to Terry’s initiative, the LKS community has been able to continue where he left off and keep Terry’s dream alive! Thank you to all who continue to be part of Terry’s Marathon of Hope. Your ongoing support and generosity is much appreciated! – Ms. Gibson and the Terry Fox team.
Photo Re-Take and Sibling Day: November 15th is our photo re-take and sibling photo day. If you are
requesting a re-take of your child’s photograph or a sibling photograph, we ask that you inform your child’s teacher prior to this day, so that they may be aware and support your child having the photo taken.
Progress Report Interviews: Progress report interviews will be scheduled for Thursday, November 18th and Friday, November 19th using the School Interview Booking System. There may be a few interview times available outside of these dates depending upon teacher availability. Please note the following:
- The system will be open next week for parents to book interviews.
- An email will be sent to parents mid week when the program is open and reminding families of next steps. Interviews will be approximately 10 minutes in length.
- Links to virtual interviews will be available, however, we understand our families have busy schedules, if you would prefer a phone interview, please contact your child’s teacher to arrange.
Lambton-Kingsway JMS Scares Hunger: Lambton-Kingsway generosity for The Daily Bread Food Bank has greatly surpassed the total of last year’s virtual campaign. Parent Council Meeting Notice: The next Parent Council meeting will be held on Monday, November 8th. All parents and caregivers of LKS are encouraged to login and attend. Here is the Zoom link
Winter Coat and Boot Drive: Children at one of our sister schools in Etobicoke are in need of winter coats and boots. If your children grew faster than expected or if there are unused coats and boots in your closet, please bring these items to LKS, so that they can help kids at a nearby school find the joy in winter!
LKS will be holding a winter coat and boot drive on Wednesday November 10th. Please drop off CLEAN and BAGGED coats and boots at the white tent set up outside of the school between 8:15-9:00 a.m. This is only a one-day drive, so please mark your calendars and set your alarms. Thank you in advance for helping keep children in our community warm throughout the winter!
2021 – Stonegate Holiday Drive – Tis’ The Season to Give!: With the holiday season fast approaching, we are very excited to be able to partner once again this year with Stonegate Community Health Centre . To ensure the families have enough time to use the gift cards before the holidays, we will be running the campaign from Monday November 8th until end of day Tuesday November 30th. No donated gift cards can be accepted after November 30th. All donations must be in the form of Gift Cards. Unfortunately, cash donations cannot be accepted. If you would like to donate here are a few types of gift cards you may want to consider: Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws, Sobeys, ToysRus or Mastermind Toys, etc. Please avoid all credit card gift cards such as VISA and Mastercard.
Stonegate is a wonderful organization that provides primary health care and health promotion services, as well as a wide variety of community programs, to the Stonegate-Parklawn Community.
In past years, each class would sponsor a family and fill a holiday hamper with items that suited that family’s wants and needs. Last year because of COVID we were unable to do the holiday hampers and we instead opted for gift cards which enabled the families to purchase their own holiday gifts, food and other necessities. It was a huge success and so we are going to collect gift cards again this year!
Check your inboxes for an email coming soon from your class parent(s) which will include a description of the family your child’s class will be helping as well as a link to a Sign Up Genius where you can sign up to donate a gift card for the family. All donated gift cards should be sent with your child to school where they can give it to their teacher who will place it in the class collection envelope.
This is not only a wonderful way to help bring joy to 26 families in our community but it’s also a great opportunity to teach our children the importance of helping those in need.
On behalf of the Parent Council, Thank you in advance for your generosity!
