LAST CHANCE – Treat of the Month:  Our Parent Council has extended the deadline for one week!  They would like to remind all families of the following:  Since we are unable to offer pizza lunch at this time due to Covid restrictions, students will have the opportunity to enjoy a special treat on the last Friday of every month. They will be distributed before lunch time.  Examples include:  kernels popcorn, chips and chocolate milk, decorate your own holiday cookie. We will offer gluten free & vegan options and do our best to accommodate any dietary requirements.  If you require gluten-free or vegan snacks, please email Stephanie Bournakas at

There will be a one time sign up through school cash online (  and the deadline to sign up is October 29th, the cost is $60.00 per child

Our hope is that all students will be able to participate in this fundraising initiative.  If, for any reason, you would like your child to receive a treat, but are unable to meet the financial obligation, please email and we will make accommodations, no questions asked.  All emails will be strictly confidential.

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up.  We appreciate your support!

Hallowe’en: Our students are excited about Hallowe’en every year and this year is not different. Our teachers will do their best to make the day enjoyable for all students but will still be following our safety guidelines.  Please review the guidelines below about Hallowe’en 2021 at Lambton-Kingsway.

  1. Costume Parade:  For those students who are celebrating Hallowe’en on October 31st, they may want to wear their costume to school on Friday, October 29th and participate in our virtual in-school costume parade.  As was done last year, we will virtually share our costume parade with classes and with parents.  All parents will have access to the link.  If you do not want your child seen through the video link, please inform the classroom teacher.  Our parade will follow the timetable below.
9:00 – 9:20K2, K4, 3B, 2C, 1B, ISP
9:30 – 9:50K1, K3, 3C, 1C, 1D
9:55 – 10:151/2A, 4B, 2/3A, 5A, 7B
10:30 – 10:503/4A, 2B, 3D, 8B, 7A
10:55 – 11:156A, 6B, 4C, 5B, 8A

Parents can access the Hallowe’en parade at this link  beginning at 9:00 a.m. We are hopeful that next year we will see the return of our live parade on the playground.

  1. Hallowe’en Treats:  At this point in time, our guidelines remind us that students are not to share food items from home.  Please refrain from sending treats with your child for sharing.
  2. Masks: Students are asked to leave masks at home if they are part of the costume as we are still required to wear our ‘pandemic’ masks in an effort to prevent the spread of Covid.
  3. Costume Props: Many costumes are enhanced by a prop or extra parts.  We ask that weapons not be sent to school and that students carefully consider if other props can be left at home as they can be lost or a distraction.

Hallowe’en traditions and celebrations have evolved over the years.  Presently in Canada, Hallowe’en is a celebration where costumes are worn, parties attended and, in many cases, young children participate in trick or treating in the community.  If students celebrate Hallowe’en, by trick-or-treating, they need to stay in small groups and be watchful of cars and do their best to follow safety rules.  More information about the history of Hallowe’en can be found here.

Lambton-Kingsway JMS Scares Hunger:  The Daily Bread Food Bank continues to look to the Toronto Community for support.  Last year in our virtual campaign, Lambton-Kingsway raised almost $2000.00 to combat food scarcity.  Even though we are not able to accept food donations in person, we can still help to ‘scare’ hunger at

Grade 8 to 9 Information Nights:  Even though the school year has just started, our Grade 8 students and teachers have begun to plan for Grade 9 and the 2021-2022 school year.  Our Secondary Schools are not able to hold in-person open houses but do have much information to share.  Lambton-Kingsway Grade 8 teachers will be holding an information night for parents on Wednesday, October 27th beginning at 6:30 p.m.  A link to the meeting is available here.

The TDSB will also hold a meeting for all Grade 8 students and families with information about the transition from Grade 8 to 9 on Monday, November 1st from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. for Learning Centre 4.
