Student Data Verification Forms – ACTION NEEDED: Today our students were sent home with student data verification forms. Having up to date and accurate information about our students is extremely important, especially in the case of emergency. We ask all parents to do the following:
- Review the information on the verification sheet
- Make any changes in red and initial the bottom right corner of the front page to confirm details
- If there are no changes, initial the bottom right corner of the front page to confirm details
- Return the form with your child to the classroom teacher, who will forward to the office
Hallowe’en Costumes – Appreciation or Appropriation: Many students enjoy the magic and fun of dressing up for Hallowe’en and participating in activities with friends and in the neighbourhood. Staff and students have been looking at the steps we can take to build an anti-racist world that includes an anti-racist Halloween. The conversations have centered around the concept that “Cultures are not a Costume”. It is important to remember that we should be respectful to all cultures as we select our costumes. Here is a video from the CBC explaining the difference between appreciation and appropriation. Here is a link to a resource created by students from Laurier University.
Grade 7 & 8 Extracurriculars: Following TDSB guidelines, our Grade 7 and 8 athletic extra-curricular activities are in full swing. Try outs and practices started last week. Students have been participating in cross country, soccer and football. The tryout/practice schedule is included here. Please check the site often as there can be changes due to weather and other scheduling conflicts. https://sites.google.com/tdsb.on.ca/extracurricularlks/home
Volunteer Offence Declaration: Lambton-Kingsway has many parent volunteers who support our students. We look forward to your return as soon as possible. Each volunteer who needs to complete the offence declaration has completed a police record check in a previous year. Please remember to contact the main school office 416-394-7890 to complete your annual offence declaration and maintain up to date records.
Terry Fox Update: A huge thank you to everyone who has made a donation and helped to keep Terry’s dream alive here at Lambton-Kingsway JMS. Our goal was to raise $25,000 this year. We are so incredibly close, with just over $22,000 raised so far. If you still have pledge sheets at home, please be sure to return them to school this upcoming week. If you would still like to make an online donation, please do so in the next few days by clicking here. Cancer affects all of us, either directly or indirectly. Every little bit helps and together we make a difference, just like Terry did!

Treat of the Month: Since we are unable to offer pizza lunch at this time due to Covid restrictions, students will have the opportunity to enjoy a special treat on the last Friday of every month. They will be distributed before lunch time. Examples include: kernels popcorn, chips and chocolate milk, decorate your own holiday cookie. We will offer gluten free & vegan options and do our best to accommodate any dietary requirements. If you require gluten-free or vegan snacks, please email Stephanie Bournakas at stephaniebournakas@gmail.com
There will be a one time sign up through school cash online (www.schoolcashonline.com) and the deadline to sign up is October 15th, the cost is $60.00 per child.
Our hope is that all students will be able to participate in this fundraising initiative. If, for any reason, you would like your child to receive a treat, but are unable to meet the financial obligation, please email stephaniebournakas@gmail.com and we will make accommodations, no questions asked.
