Students, Parents and Guardians,
We hope that all Lambton-Kingsway families have had a safe and restful summer. We look forward to welcoming our students on Thursday, September 9. The entry bell occurs at 8:30 a.m., lunch dismissal is 11:20 a.m., afternoon entry 12:20 and end of the day dismissal 3:10 for all students.
Although our students have been out of school since last April, they have continued to learn effectively, have enjoyed a summer break and are ready for a return to school. Our teachers are prepared for the return of students and have created lessons to support student learning. During the first few weeks of school, teachers will work to build classroom community, create a transition to school and begin to assess student strengths and understanding.
We know students, parents and guardians have many questions about the start of school and what to expect. TDSB Director, Russell-Rawlins sent out general information to all families last week with some guidelines for the return of students to school. We will be providing a detailed Lambton-Kingsway update for students and families on Friday, September 3 which will include entry and exit doors, class placements and bell times.
Essentially, school practices and routines for the start of the school year will be quite similar to our practices in April 2021. Some highlights are:
- Students will need to complete a self-assessment prior to coming to school
- Students and staff will be required to wear a mask while in the school building
- Although our school has central ventilation, each class is also equipped with a stand alone Hepa filter.
- Practices will be in place to minimize contact with other students where possible
- Continued emphasis will be placed upon effective hygiene practices
Our Welcome Back and Safety Routines presentation can be viewed to remind our students of the safety routines in the school.
Our new Kindergarten families may find it helpful to review our Welcome to Kindergarten virtual classroom as they prepare for next week.
