Welcome to Our New and Returning Staff: Last year we said goodbye to some staff members who were part of the Lambton-Kingsway JMS family. We thank them for all their work and dedication in making our school a caring and supportive building that allowed students to learn and grow to the best of their ability. This year we welcome back many of our staff who were on leave or who taught in the TDSB virtual school. We also welcome a few new staff the Lambton-Kingsway.

Transition Back to In-Person School: School started for our students on September 9th. All students have done a tremendous job transitioning back to in-person learning. They have come to school with a positive attitude and have demonstrated that they are ready to learn their best and work with their classmates to achieve their goals. Our students can be proud of the resilience and resourcefulness that they have shown in the past year. We look forward to a successful year for all.
Terry Fox Fundraising: September is the time for our Annual Terry Fox Campaign. This is the 41st year of Terry’s Marathon of Hope and Lambton-Kingsway’s 21st year of participation. COVID continues to impact how we do things, but we won’t let that stop us as we continue to work together in keeping Terry’s dream alive, of finding a cure for cancer. This year, all students will be taking part in a virtual kick off assembly and we will be having smaller class walks on Sept. 29, which is the National School Run/Walk Day. Students will also be learning more about Terry, who is a true Canadian Hero.
Last year our students raised an incredible $26,219.70, which ranked second in school fundraising in the province. This year our goal is to raise $25,000. All cheques need to be made out to The Terry Fox Foundation. With your permission, they can also set up a personal fundraising page which can be sent to family, friends, co-workers, etc. Personal Fundraising Page Together we have made a huge difference by raising $535, 088.19 over the past 20 years!

Extra-Curricular Activities: On Wednesday, September 8th, Toronto Public Health and the TDSB announced that there would be a pause of extra-curricular activities. Toronto Public Health will continue to assess Covid case rates and will update guidance as required. We realize that this is disappointing news to both our students and our staff. We will monitor the situation carefully providing updates as soon as they are available to us.
Student and Staff Health Screening: Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment at Lambton-Kingsway JMS. Each day prior to entering the school, our students and staff are required to screen for Covid symptoms. We thank our parents for returning to this task once again this year, as we return to in-person schooling. The Student Health Pass is available on the main landing page of the TDSB website. More information about the daily health screening is available here. Parents are reminded that if students travel outside of Canada that they not to return to school for 14 days even if they travelled with a fully vaccinated companion (page 2, purple section).
