Collecting Student Belongings and Opportunity to Say Goodbye:  On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, Kindergarten to Grade 7 students will have the opportunity to meet with their homeroom teacher to drop-off any items belonging to the school and pick-up any personal belongings from the classroom. You will need to book a 10 minute appointment for Wednesday, June 23, 2021.  Bookings are open from Friday June 18 to Tuesday June 22 – noon.

  1. Go to www.schoolinterviews.ca
  2. Click on Make a Booking
  3. Enter the event code anbc8
  4. Select the teacher and the time you would like to book for the 10 minute appointment

If you have multiple children you will need to make multiple appointments.  Prior to coming to the school, each student and family member will need to screen for Covid symptoms.

This will also be a brief opportunity for the students and the teachers to see each other and say good-bye after a year that has challenged every member of the LKS learning community to be the best they can be under unusual circumstances. We are very proud of our students, teachers and parents for striving to make the best out of this challenging time. If you have borrowed a computer from the school, you can either return it on this day or you can drop it off with our office staff any day from June 28th to June 30th.

Here are a few things to remember:

  • Complete the TDSB Health Screening prior to coming to school
  • Arrive no more than 5 minutes before your appointment time
  • Wear a mask at all times and respect physical distance requirements (maintain 2 metre distance)
  • Use the front entrance to the school near the parking lot
  • Check-In with the teacher at your labelled table
  • Go directly to your classroom (a maximum of 2 students and 1 parent each permitted in the class at a time)
  • Use hand sanitizer upon entry
  • Exit the building on the north side – Government Road
  • Check out with a staff member

Grade 8 students will have an opportunity to drop off items, collect belongings and say goodbye to their homeroom teachers outside on Friday, June 25.  Grade 8 students will need to adhere to the Toronto Public Health guidelines a remain in groups of less than 10 including the teachers.  A separate schedule will be made available for the Grade 8 students.

Return of Technology:  If your child has borrowed a laptop device from the school to access remote learning, please remember that all devices and charging cords need to be returned to the school by June 30th.  The school will be open for return of devices from June 21 – 30.  If you no longer need the items you can return them on June 23rd when you are picking up student belongings.

Happy Father’s Day:  Sunday, June 20th is Father’s Day.  We wish all fathers in our Lambton-Kingsway family, a very happy day.  Research tells us that one of the most important sources of support for children and students is the support of their family.  We hope all fathers are able to rest and relax on this day.

Kindergarten to Grade 5 Spirit Week Activities:  Many of our Kindergarten to Grade 5 classes are having a wonderful time participating in Spirit Week activities.  Click here to see more about the challenges for the coming week.

Terry Fox 2021 T-Shirts:  There are only a few more days to pre-order your Terry Fox shirt.  Please click on the attached flyer for all of the necessary information about the amazing design for the 41st anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope, sizing and prices.  Orders can be placed on Cashless Schools until Thursday, June 24.  Please be sure to measure carefully since we can’t exchange them once they are ordered.  T-shirts will be delivered in early September.

Report Card Delivery: Last week the TDSB sent a message to all families indicating that student second term report cards would be delivered electronically beginning on June 24.  Please note that TDSB has to deliver over 250,000 reports by email which means the process usually takes a number of days to complete.  Here is a link to the TDSB message to parents about the delivery of reports.

Grade 8 Graduation Virtual Display:  Our virtual graduation display is still available if you have not seen it already.  The western wall of the school is now displaying our Grad 2021 logo. Congratulations to all the students and our senior teaching staff.  https://sites.google.com/student.tdsb.on.ca/lksgrads2021/home .  Thank you to the Grade 8 Graduation parent committee for all of their work creating the display.  Thank you to the wonderful parent grad committee for their expertise.

Grade 8 Graduation:  As per the direction from the TDSB and in keeping with Toronto Public Health guidelines our Grade 8 Graduation will be a virtual event on June 24th, premiering at 6:00 p.m. on a private Youtube channel.  The link for the event will be sent to all Grade 8 families a day or two before the premier.  We are proud of the accomplishments of our students this year who have learned so much beyond the curriculum.  Thank you to our Grade 8 Graduation Committee of parents who helped to make this a special year for our students with surprise deliveries and activities throughout the month of June.  Your support has been greatly appreciated.

Are You Moving?:  Our 2020-2021 school year is almost finished and we are beginning our planning for the 2021–2022 school year.  It is important that we are made aware of any changes in our student population so that we may assist students with a transition to a new school.  If you are expecting to move prior to September 1, 2021, please contact the school office at 416-394-7890 with details.
