School Start September – Virtual Schools:  Beginning next week, we are expecting the TDSB will start sending out emails to families asking students to choose to attend school in person or in a virtual model for the start of the 2021-2020 school year.  Please watch for this message in your email and it will also be added to next week’s Friday Flash.  The choice is to be made by June 1st.  These decisions will help schools plan for an effective start in September.

Social Media and Mental Health Presentation – May 20: On May 20 our Grade 4 – 8 students will have an opportunity to listen to Scott Ste. Marie speak about social media and mental health.  At 7:00 p.m., that same day he will present to parents.  Please click on the following private Youtube link for access to the presentation.

Paul Davis – Parent Session:  Paul Davis is hosting a make-up/update parent session on June 6th at 8:00 p.m.  There is a limited capacity of guests that can be hosted.  This message is going out to all the schools who held presentation from October to November 2020, and it will fill up quickly.   If you wish to participate in this event please visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/153341533655  A full description of topics is found on the event registration page.

Eid al-Fitr: Muslim worshippers around the world are celebrating the festival of Eid, to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.  The prayers and celebration began early on May 13.  We know that any holiday celebration during the Covid pandemic can be challenging.  We wish peace, safety, good health, and prosperity to all those celebrating Eid.

Terry Fox Event:  As a result of the tremendous support from Lambton-Kingsway JMS in 2020-2021, Ms. Gibson received a special invitation from The Terry Fox Foundation to participate in a 30 minute virtual meeting with Fred Fox, Terry’s older brother on Friday, May 28th.  Many of our classes (399 students) will be participating in this exciting experience. This will be an opportunity to share the history of Terry’s journey and inspire students with his incredible examples of leadership, compassion, and determination. We know how important Terry Fox is here at LKS, and we welcome the opportunity to learn more about Terry from his brother Fred, who was visited LKS in May 2017.
