Remote Learning: On Tuesday, April 6, Toronto Public Health announced that schools would be closed to students until April 18. Our staff and students have been prepared for this possibility. Online classrooms have been incorporated into daily lessons since the beginning of the year and our students are leveraging their previous online experiences to help them be successful now. Students and parents should continue to watch the local media and email for any updates about a return to school.

Ramadan Begins 2021 – April 13: Ramadan is likely to begin on Tuesday April 13 and end Wednesday, May 12. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar which moves forward each year by about 11 days. Ramadan is a time when Muslims concentrate on their faith and spend less time on the concerns of their everyday lives. It is a time of worship and contemplation. During the fast of Ramadan, strict restraints are placed on the daily lives of Muslims. They are not allowed to eat or drink during daylight hours. We wish all those recognizing Ramadan, a good fast.
International Day of Pink – April 14: Earlier this year, Lambton-Kingsway participated in Pink Shirt Day and took a stand against bullying. International Day of Pink is a day to stand for equality and acceptance of all people. “Discrimination takes many shapes, whether it’s based on race, age, disabilities, gender or sexuality. The 2SLGBTQIA+ community is no stranger to the bullying and violence that stems from hateful beliefs. While progress has been made towards removing these social barriers from our society, discrimination still persists. So, every year, on the second Wednesday of April, we urge people around the world to put on a pink shirt and stand in solidarity with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to continue fighting for equality and acceptance.” https://www.dayofpink.org/en/home
Earth Day 2021 – April 22: Earth Day 2021 is an annual event celebrated globally to support environmental protection. The day is celebrated on 22nd April every year.
