Parent Council Bulletin, Sept 30 2020
Hello everyone,
On behalf of Parent Council, we hope that you and your families have adjusted well to the start of the school year. As you may have seen, Parent Council has secured the support of community sponsors to offer pop-up tents, hand sanitizer stations and mobile whiteboards. We are happy to support LKS staff and students to make outdoor learning as comfortable as possible. We are also incredibly grateful to our sponsors: Paul Nusca Real Estate Team, Linda Tickins & Co Realty, Landscape Plus Ltd, Kingsway Village Custom Homes, Lambton Kingsway Before & After Program, Ashley Shaw & Associates, Peter & Greg Walker Contracting Inc.
We look forward to hosting our first Zoom meeting for Parent Council on Monday October 19th at 7pm. We will send out the link closer to the date and we hope that you can join us!
In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at joannasharp@outlook.com

Message from Mrs. Gibson & Terry Fox Student Helpers
Welcome back LKS families,
While many things have changed over the past few months, some things remain the same. Sadly we know that cancer continues to affect us all, in one way or another, and cancer knows no boundaries. At LKS, we continue to work together in keeping Terry’s dream alive, of finding a cure for cancer. While we can’t have whole school assemblies, or our usual large community walk, we can and will continue to learn about and honour Terry with our annual Terry Fox Fundraising Campaign.
This is a very exciting year, since it is the 40th Anniversary of his Marathon of Hope and our 20th Anniversary here at LKS. This year we are being asked What’s Your 40? Each class is coming up with ideas of what they can do to honour the 40th anniversary (40 laps of the track, painting 40 rocks, 40 words to honour Terry, raise $40 each, build something with 40 pieces of Lego, etc.). Be sure to ask your child what their class is doing.
Thank you to those who ordered a 40th Anniversary T-shirt . All proceeds from t-shirt sales go directly to our school fundraising total. T-shirts will be delivered this week.
Last year we raised an incredible $27,750.79. Unfortunately we are not able to do our Terry Fox Raffle, cookie sales or collect donations during Curriculum Night, so we are hoping you will be able to help us reach our goal of $20,000, by donating online at http://www.terryfox.ca/LambtonKingswayJMSEtobicoke. Your child(ren) can set up their own personal fundraising page which can then be sent to friends, family, co-workers, etc., instead of having to collect donations in person Personal Fundraising Page. Together we have made a huge difference by raising $508,909.51 over the past 19 years.
Thanking you in advance for your support,
Mrs. Gibson and the Terry Fox Student Helpers/Ambassadors
