Week 1

Good afternoon LKS Families.

With week one in the books we wanted to reach out and thank you for a great first week.  Your cooperation and support this week has been much appreciated by all.

Overall, we are at around 580 students with about 90 students choosing virtual learning – 87% of our student population is here.  When we are bored we will take a look at the overall system numbers but are pretty confident that puts us in the top 10 for in-school enrollment across the city.

We have a few logistical items to improve on next week but as a whole, are very happy with the start.  Our staff has done a great job supporting one another, jumping in where needed, and putting the safety of your kids as the number one priority.  It is so nice to be back and as I told the staff today, while I love my own daughters, it has been great getting to ‘hang out’ with other children this week!

Moving into next week, we are going to once again close down the parking lot and encourage you to walk if possible.  Moving forward, we will get back to our old routines as the weather grows colder, but it gives us one less thing to worry about at this time.  Also, now that everyone is here and getting settled, we ask that you drop your child(ren) off in their line and leave them with their classmates and teacher.  Please do a quick goodbye and then help us ease congestion near the lines and school doors.

Finally, we encourage all of you to wear masks while on school property and your children must have on when they are lining up.  We want to keep everyone healthy and safe.

Once again, a big thank you, and enjoy the weekend.
