Good morning LKS Families.
We hope all of you are well and enjoying the amazing weather we have had throughout the month of July.
Last night, you should have received a letter from the TDSB in regards to the Ministry’s announcement yesterday around schools reopening in September. While there is much work to be done, and we have to wait for the Board to give us final direction, we are writing to you today to let you know that we will be ready to welcome our students back on September 8. There is no doubt that things will look different but we have been mapping things out over the last several weeks so we can hit the ground running when we do get official word.
We are putting together a School Reopening Committee which will be composed of staff and members of your Parent Council. The discussions that take place will shape how we look and will be shared with all parents well before September 8.
As you may know, the Minister of Education mentioned yesterday that ultimately it is the parents that make the final decision if their child/ren return to school and remote learning will still be an option. It is our understanding that parents will be asked their intentions in the next week or so.
I am excited to get back to school – this has been the longest March Break ever – and know we have the capacity to do so in a safe manner. We know some of you may be nervous and we get it. My biggest concern is sending my own kids back to school but for my family, know it is the right thing to do.
Please say hello to all of ‘our’ kids for us and we will be in touch.
Take care,
John and Kimm
