PARENT COUNCIL NEWS:
Parent Council Meeting – CANCELLED for October
The October Parent Council meeting has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. The next meeting will be on Monday, November 18 at 7pm in the library. Please join Parent Council for the meeting to discuss events and activities at the school, debrief of the Parent Social on November 1st, committee updates and schoolyard renewal project. All are welcome, childcare will be provided. Voting members are reminded attendance is required to pass meeting minutes and program budgets.
Parent Social on November 1 – Get your tickets!
Don’t miss the annual Parent Social at the Crooked Cue! Tickets are available for online purchase using the TDSB Cash Online website. It’s a great way to catch up with neighbourhood friends and support classroom enrichments at LKS.
Donations Requested! Once again the event will feature a Silent Auction and Mystery Bag fundraiser. We welcome and encourage donations from LKS families and local businesses. Mystery bags typically include a range of prizes from high value items like sports tickets and ski passes, to smaller items such as a bottle of wine or gift certificate. Please consider tapping in to your network to help fill the bags with something fun! 100% of the money raised goes towards enriching your child’s experience at LKS. Businesses will be recognized on the sponsorship poster and Instagram. Please email lambtonkingswaysocial@gmail.com to let us know what you can donate.
Police Check Required for Volunteers
It is TDSB policy that anyone volunteering in the classroom or on a class trip must complete a police check. New volunteers should see Mrs. Stefanowicz in the office for the correct forms. If a volunteer has completed the check in a prior year, Mrs. Stefanowicz can assist with the annual on-line declaration. Payment for police checks can be made through the TDSB Cash Online website.
Mabel’s Labels
Please visit www.lkjms.mabelslabels.com and enter our school code (9316) when placing your order. Every order placed supports LKS!
SCHOOL NEWS:
X-DANCE ~ October 21-25 **Payment Due
We are excited to be welcoming X-Movement back to LKS for a brand new program called X-Dance. For those who with us last year, you may recall X-Fusion and our parent engagement evening that taught us mindfulness, self-regulation and how to understand our moods. X-Dance is the next program offered to us. Through culturally diverse dances from all over the world, X-Dance encourages students to celebrate the unique parts of themselves and others. X-Dance guides students to create an equitable and inclusive environment through curiosity, acceptance and respect. Students are left empowered to create a world where everyone feels safe to be who they truly are. This program ties well with the Ontario Dance and Health/Phys Ed Curricula.
Each student is asked to pay $8.00 towards the cost of bringing this program to LKS. Payment should be made at www.schoolcashonline.com.
The parent engagement evening is Thursday, October 24th. There are 2 separate sessions which you can sign up for on www.schoolcashonline.com. Session 1 is 6:00 to 7:00 and Session 2 is 7:00 to 8:00. This is a family event and we encourage you to attend so your child can show you all the wonderful things that have been learned. Please choose 1 session and indicate how many family members will be attending. If you have more than one child at LKS, you only need to register one child with the total number of family members attending. No need to do it for each child. There is a maximum of 300 participants for each session. There is no cost for this Family event.
We are really looking forward to welcoming X-Movement to LKS again and hope you are able to join us.
Terry Fox Update & Reminders
