PARENT COUNCIL NEWS:

Fall Fair on October 16 – Save the Date

Mark your calendars!  The annual Fall Fair is coming up on Wed. Oct. 16 from 3-5pm in the LKS schoolyard.  Highlights include; picking your own pumpkin, grabbing a snack at a food truck and feeding animals at the petting zoo!

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for this event. If you are interested in sponsoring an activity or making a contribution to our Fall Fair, please contact Jill at jsutherley@yahoo.ca.  We appreciate all the support and would look forward to highlighting your business to our large parent community! Thanks and see you there!

Parent Social on November 1 – Save the Date

Don’t miss the annual Parent Social at the Crooked Cue! Watch this space for more details for this must-attend event.

Once again the event will feature a Silent Auction and Mystery Bag fundraiser. We welcome and encourage donations from LKS families and local businesses. Mystery bags typically include a range of prizes from high value items like sports tickets and ski passes, to smaller items such as a bottle of wine or gift certificate. Please consider tapping in to your network to help fill the bags with something fun! 100% of the money raised goes towards enriching your child’s experience at LKS. Businesses will be recognized on the sponsorship poster and Instagram. Please email lambtonkingswaysocial@gmail.com to let us know what you can donate.

Crossing Guard Reporting – Call 311

We continue to experience challenges with the absence of crossing guards at our crosswalks on Prince Edward Drive, both on Prince Edward Dr and at the Prince Edward Dr/Government Rd intersection. Please call 311to report the absent crossing guards to the City of Toronto. Each location must be reported separately.

Police Check Required for Volunteers

It is TDSB policy that anyone volunteering in the classroom or on a class trip muct complete a police check. New volunteers should see Mrs. Stefanowicz in the office for the correct forms. If a volunteer has completed the check in a prior year, Mrs. Stefanowicz can assist with the annual on-line declaration. Payment for police checks can be made through the TDSB Cash Online website.

X-DANCE ~ October 21-25

We are excited to be welcoming X-Movement back to LKS for a brand new program called X-Dance. For those who with us last year, you may recall X-Fusion and our parent engagement evening that taught us mindfulness, self-regulation and how to understand our moods.  X-Dance is the next program offered to us. Through culturally diverse dances from all over the world, X-Dance encourages students to celebrate the unique parts of themselves and others. X-Dance guides students to create an equitable and inclusive environment through curiosity, acceptance and respect. Students are left empowered to create a world where everyone feels safe to be who they truly are. This program ties well with the Ontario Dance and Health/Phys Ed Curricula.

Each student is asked to pay $8.00 towards the cost of bringing this program to LKS.  Payment should be made atwww.schoolcashonline.com.  Included in this price is a parent engagement evening where parents are invited to learn from their children the dances they have been learning all week.  The parent engagement evening is Thursday, October 24th.

After School Program Sign Ups – Final Reminder

We are happy to be partnering with community service providers to bring after school or lunch time programs to LKS.  Each of these service providers runs independently of the school and should be contacted directly for further information.

Reminder – Items for Payment on TDSB Cash Online

LKS is a cashless school. This means all payments for school related activities are done online. Please sign in to your TDSB Cash Online account (www.schoolcashonline.com) to pay for back-to-school items, including gym shirts, agendas, police checks and Terry Fox cookies! More items will be added throughout the year.
