School News and Activities Details: February is Kindergarten Registration Month We look forward to welcoming our newest LKS community members! To attend Junior Kindergarten in September, children must be four years old by December 31, 2019. To register for Senior kindergarten, children must be five years old before December 31, 2019. Our official registration dates at LKS are Tuesday, February 19 and Wednesday, February 20 between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. Parents can start the registration process online starting February 4 by going to www.tdsb.on.ca/kindergarten and completing the online registration form. Once you have completed the registration form, call the school at (416)394-7890 to book an appointment to submit the required documents and for you and your new Kindergarten student to meet a Kindergarten teacher. If you would prefer to pick up the registration forms from the office and fill them out at home on paper instead of online, that’s fine too. The paper forms will be available starting February 1 as well. When you come to your scheduled appointment, please remember to bring:
Ideally we will have the majority of registrations done during these two dates. Please remember to book an appointment. Please feel free to share this information with community members who have Kindergarten aged children. Mandatory Police Checks for Volunteering in Classrooms or Field Trips Adults must have a valid and up to date PRC Vulnerable Sector Screening to volunteer in the school. If you do not have a police check you cannot go on any trips, volunteer at the school for classroom parties, reading, etc. You can request a Police Check form from Ms. Stefanowicz in the school office. You will need to pay $20.40 by going onto the www.schoolcashonline.com website. Ms. Stefanowicz will then send your form to the Board who in turn sends it to the police. This is done for the police to verify all the information and ensure there are no offences relating to any person(s). The process usually takes 4-6 weeks. Please note, you are not eligible to volunteer if your police check is in process; it must be complete. You will receive a copy of the form with a “Clear” stamp on the upper right-hand corner. That is the original that you must submit to Ms. Stefanowicz, who will make a copy for you and send the original to the Board. Only after the school board has received the original “clear” report, are you permitted to volunteer in the school. The police check is valid for one year and following that you can come to the school and renew it at no cost. After School Programs – See Attached
